This photograph, taken on a walk near Tallentire, formed the basis of my ideas. In the image above, I have used Photoshop to colour the windmills within the landscape, as the Art movement I was reflecting here was Surrealism. My underlying theme was the nightmare of windfarms (for some people), linking to the Freudian theme of dreams and nightmares in Surrealist art.
This is a photo of my final piece (better image to follow) which is an "anti-windmill".
The basic structural form is a windmill, based on the photograph above, which has been covered with a range of anti-windfarm propaganda. This has created a windmill which is protesting about it's own existence.
I feel this reflects both the conflict about wind farms in Cumbria, where some people support these and others feel they are not appropriate for an area of natural beauty, and the Surrealist art movement which aims to challenge our perspective on the world around us.

This close-up of the centre of the "anti-windmill" shows the use of the anti-wind farm propaganda to create a collage finish to the piece.
